Civil Marriage (Borgerlig vigsel)

We offers civil marriage ceremonies. The ceremony is legally binding and free from religious affiliations.

  • Eligibility and Conditions: Anyone, including non-Swedish citizens and non-residents, can get married in Sweden, provided they fulfill the legal requirements. You must first apply for a Certificate of No Impediment (hindersprövning) from the Swedish Tax Agency (Skatteverket) before booking a ceremony. You need to hand in these documents to us so we can process your request for a marriage license. On the day of your ceremony you will need two witnesses.
  • Fees: The municipal civil marriage ceremony in Svenljunga is usually free of charge, but a small administrative fee may apply depending on the venue or specific requests.
  • Processing Time: You should book your wedding date with the municipality at least a couple of weeks in advance, and your hindersprövning certificate an intyg vigsel from Skatteverket must be approved and handed in before the ceremony.
  • How to Apply: If you do not have a Swedish personal identity number (personnummer) or Swedish BankID, you cannot use our digital system. Our marriage coordinators are in our service center, so you can contact them via emial, phone or pay us a visit at our main office, kommunhuset, at Boråsvägen 13 in Svenljunga.

Waste Management and Water Services (Avfall och VA)

If you own property or a house in Svenljunga Municipality, you are required by law to have a waste management solution and access to proper water and sewage systems.

  • Eligibility and Conditions: All property owners must register for a municipal waste collection subscription. For water and sewage, you can either connect to the municipal network (available in urban areas) or use an approved private well and septic tank (common in rural areas).
  • Fees and Rates: Fees are determined by the municipality's official tariffs (taxa). For waste, the cost depends on the size of your bin and how often it is emptied. For municipal water, there is a one-time connection fee followed by an annual usage fee. Elderly Care and Special Housing (Äldreomsorg och särskilt boende)

We provides social services and care for elderly residents who need assistance in their daily lives.

  • Eligibility and Conditions: Support is based on an individual needs assessment (biståndsbedömning) in accordance with the Swedish Social Services Act. This includes services like home care (hemtjänst) or a place in a specialized nursing home or assisted living facility (särskilt boende).
  • Fees: The municipality charges a fee for elderly care services, which is calculated based on your income and the level of care required. However, Sweden applies a national maximum fee limit (maxtaxa) so that care remains affordable.
